Re-Use in the Mediterranean Countries -

Short description: The project overall objectives are to secure water supply and waste water treatment in the targeted countries Turkey, Jordan, Lebanon and Palestine, to strengthen regional cooperation in this area of concern, to increase public awareness in the field of efficient management of waste water and last not least to improve living and health standards. The primary outcome of the project is to increase efficiency and effectiveness in the management of wastewater, its treatment and reuse in the beneficiary countries. The area of action is the “Integrated management of local drinking water supply, sanitation and sewage”. Also: with a strong focus on enhancing the public awareness about wastewater treatment technologies and helping decision makers in choosing the most suitable and appropriate technology. The project objectives and purposes are to develop and implement technical guidelines for efficient waste water management and reuse in the region, strengthening the exchange of experience and co-operation between the Mediterranean countries themselves (South-South co-operation) and the Med. and EU Countries (North-South-co-operation), development and application of appropriate and low cost solutions for waste water management in the beneficiary countries.
