Meetings of the Union for Mediterranean adjourned

In early February 2008, at the request of the Arab group, the French-Egyptian co-presidency informed member countries that all Union for the Mediterranean meetings are suspended till the end of March.

Thus the meetings envisaged within the context of the World Water Forum in Istanbul are cancelled. The 1st meeting of the Water Expert group could take place in April or May and the Ministerial conference on sustainable development, that should approve 3 to 5 water projects, is foreseen in June 2008. This announcement confirmed the freezing of the process noticed since the beginning of January following the Gaza events.
