Information and training seminar for EMWIS data managers

Following the launch of the new international web portal of EMWIS, its National Focal Points (NFP) declared their interest to use this new technology or use the common exchange standards defined with EMWIS. This seminar that will be held in Madrid (Spain) on 13-15 November 2006 will respond to their demand and aims at reviewing the water documentation management, tools used, the Implementation of the OAI protocol, Discussing the collection and the diffusion of water projects information in each country and at the regional level, Reviewing the progress on the syndication of news and events, such what was carried out with Algeria, Spain and France. It will be the occasion also to discuss reviewing the potential syndication of other types of content, Examining the progress, the use and the enhancement of the common multilingual thesaurus/glossary on water: English, Arab, French, Spanish (Italian -under development), Making a self-evaluation of NFP and international web sites and discuss the future of the national portals in terms of technological and thematic watch, assessment of user needs and new information products, and finally giving a synthetic vision of the Spanish Water Information systems for future exchanges on know-how make between country experts.
