Event 6th World Wide Workshop for Young Environmental Scientists: ‘Urban waters: resource or risk’

The thematic guideline of the seminar emphasizes the necessity of integration of human activity in the natural environment to make possible the sustainable development of urban space. In order to structure the general discussion, young scientists identify key factors and their interactions and analyze the risks of degradation of water resources. Knowledge of the hydrological phenomena and their modelling is necessary to carry out this exercise, combined with the analysis of water uses and social demand.

For the last five years, CEREVE has, within the Water University of Val-de-Marne County, organised the World Wide Workshop for Young Environmental Scientists (WWW YES). The thematic guideline of the seminar is 'URBAN WATERS', inviting the participants to rethink the need for participative and integrated water management in urban areas and the lessons which can be learned from experiences. The four days of the workshop are dedicated both to the presentation of individual research and the conception of scientific North – South cooperation projects. Admission fee and lodging are offered by the VDM County to the 30 selected candidates.
