Workshop/Training course on Spatial Data Infrastructure and on the Clearing House Portal and Data Toolkit in Damascus, Syria 7-8 November 2007 organised by the Syrian General Commission for Environmental Affairs (GCEA) and the SMAP RMSU

The objectives of the workshop are:

    * to introduce European technologies, policies and institutional arrangements of the European "Spatial Data Infrastructure" (SDI) standard, a mechanism to facilitate the access to and the use of spatial data;
    * to demonstrate the most recent developments of the SMAP Clearing House including new contents and functionalities (multilinguality, decentralised user and content management, GeoMaP, etc…) as well as the Toolkit for "replication" of the Clearing House Portal on local computers.
