Event Virtual training course for Mediterranean coastal zone management

A virtual training course aimed at promoting Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) as a sustainable approach to Mediterranean coastal management and targeted at EU project partners has recently been updated and is available online and free of charge.

The MedOpen course is aimed at decision makers (at the local, national, regional, and international level), policy advisors, project managers, staff and experts from international organisations and institutions, academic researchers, students, and all others interested in coastal management. This latest version of MedOpen is mainly targeted at partners from EU FP7 Project PEGASO. The main objective of PEGASO is to build on existing capacities and develop common approaches to support integrated policies for the coastal, marine and maritime realms of the Mediterranean and Black Sea Basins in ways consistent with the implementation of the ICZM Protocol for the Mediterranean. A previous version of the course was also in the EU-funded SMAP III project, which encouraged integrated coastal zone management around the Mediterranean. SMAP III ended in 2008. Participants can apply to the MedOpen training course until 7 November 2010.
