MARCH 25 - WATER JUSTICE DAY IN TUNIS As the global water crisis deepens around the world, we water justice advocates see the problem as a political one. The water crisis highlights the extent to which injustice and environmental devastation are intrinsic to the dominant global agenda of neoliberalism. As corporations scramble to acquire greater access to scarce water resources in order to ensure continued economic growth, we are communities and solidarity organizations asserting our right to defend water sources for people and the planet. Because water is a cross-cutting issue that is central to many of our struggles for justice, we will hold a water justice day prior the World Social Forum allowing groups to connect, share strategies and ideas. Roundtable on water as a commons and a human right

The campaign for a human right to water and sanitation was spawned by social movements who have fought against privatization of water services, the commodification of resources and the corporate takeover of community water supplies. Now that the right to water and sanitation has been formally recognized by the United Nations and a growing list of national governments, we must push for an implementation of this right that allows us to move forward in our campaigns for water justice. This roundtable discussion will bring together water justice groups from the Global South and North to discuss key strategies in promoting an implementation of the human right to water consistent with our local campaigns to protect water as a commons, free from privatization, commodification, marketization and financialization. We hope to build links and exchange key strategies with local groups in Tunisia and Northern Africa.

25 mars: JOURNEE DE LA JUSTICE SOCIALE DE L'EAU A TUNIS

Description :

Avec l'aggravation de la crise mondiale de l'eau à travers le monde, nous, défenseurs de l'eau comme droit humain et bien public, voyons le problème comme politique. La crise de l'eau met en évidence à quel point l'injustice et la dévastation de l'environnement sont intrinsèquement liés à l'agenda mondial du néolibéralisme. Pendant que des entreprises se bousculent pour acquérir un plus grand accès aux ressources d'eau limitées afin de leur assurer une croissance économique continue, nous sommes des communautés et des organisations de solidarité qui affirment notre droit de défendre les sources d'eau pour les gens et la planète.

Parce que l'eau est une question transversale qui est au coeur de bon nombre de nos luttes pour la justice, nous allons organiser une Journée de la justice de l'eau (Water Justice Day) avant le Forum social mondial qui permettra à des groupes de se rapprocher et de partager stratégies et idées.

Objectifs :

• Réunir les principaux alliés du mouvement de l'eau
• Explorer les défis, opportunités et tendances de discussions stratégiques pour le mouvement pour la justice sociale de l'eau en mettant l'accent sur les stratégies et les solutions actuellement employées
• Parcourir les intersections avec d'autres secteurs / luttes (climat, mines, barrages, luttes anticoloniales)
• Écouter les mises à jour de militants engagés dans les luttes clés
• Partager des stratégies pour la justice de l'eau
• Relier les défenseurs de la justice de l'eau de partout avec les mouvements tunisiens
• Lier les campagnes mondiales avec les luttes en faveur de la justice locale de l'eau au Maghreb et ailleurs dans le monde

Table ronde sur l'eau bien commun et droit humain

La campagne pour le droit à l'eau et l'assainissement a été menée par les mouvements sociaux qui ont lutté contre la privatisation des services d'eau, la marchandisation de la ressource et la main-mise des entreprises sur la fourniture d'eau. Maintenant que le droit à l'eau et l'assainissement a été formellement reconnu par les Nations Unies et un nombre croissant de gouvernements, nous devons pousser à une implémentation de ce droit qui nous permette d'avancer dans nos campagnes de justice pour l'eau. Cette table ronde réunira des groupes de la justice pour l'eau du Sud et du Nord qui discuteront des stratégies pour promouvoir une implémentation du droit à l'eau cohérente avec nos campagnes locales pour protéger l'eau comme bien commun, libre de privatisation, marchandisation et financiarisation. Nous espérons établir des liens et échanger des stratégies avec des groupes locaux tunisiens et nord africains.
