UNCCD 2nd Scientific Conference: Economic assessment of desertification, sustainable land management and resilience of arid, semi-arid and dry sub-humid areas

On behalf of the Organizing and Scientific Committees of the 2nd UNCCD Scientific Conference we would like to inform you that by yesterday date and location have been announced for the conference. The 2nd UNCCD Scientific Conference will be held from 9 to 12 April 2013 in Bonn, Germany. The UNCCD 2nd Scientific Conference puts its thematic focus on the "Economic assessment of desertification, sustainable land management and resilience of arid, semi-arid and dry sub-humid areas", requiring the analysis and evaluation of current state-of-the-art knowledge on this topic and translating available scientific findings into recommendations for the use by policy and decision makers.

The conference is expected to gather between 600 and 800 participants. In addition to the 195 parties of the convention sending their official delegates to the conference, scientists from different disciplines, professional experts, practitioners, policy and decision makers, as well as representatives from IGOs, NGOs and the private sector are expected to participate in the conference.

Please note that it is recommended to pre-register until 22 February 2013 in order to receive the visa invitation letter in time.
