8th Asian Regional Conference & 64th IEC Meeting of ICID: Irrigation Management Under Drought Conditions

The aim of the conference: 

It is supported with various scientific studies that as a result of global climate change effect, water related natural disasters is being experienced on a larger scale and more devastating in many parts of the world compared with the past.  These adverse effects are felt more intensely in some countries which’s economies based on agriculture rather than the other sectors. Turkey which is located on a semi-arid climatic zone is largely damaged from flood and drought depending on global climate change.      

 Therefore, the main theme of the 8^th Asian Regional Conference is determined as "Irrigation Management under Drought Conditions". The conference which will be a significant platform with several experts from around the world is expected to bring useful results and recommendations for stakeholders in agricultural sector finding solutions for agricultural water management which is the most important input for the development of sustainable agriculture and the problems encountered..

was distributed during the 21st International Congress on Irrigation and Drainage, 62nd International Executive Council Meeting and 8th International Micro Irrigation Congress, October 2011, Tehran, Iran.

                                            Candidate Person from TUCID:
According to the ICID announcement, Central Office is inviting nominations for 3 vacancies for the post of Vice Presidents for the term 2012-2015, for consideration at the 63rd meeting of IEC to be held in Adelaide in June 2012.

Pursuant to the ICID By-law 2.3, a member National Committee, if it so desires, may submit a nomination (in the prescribed manner) to be received at the Central Office atleast 4 (four) months in advance of the Council meeting, accompanied by the required documents, keeping in view Article 6.2.2 of the Constitution and 2.6 of the By-law.

It is foreseen that Nominations from all National Committees, if any, must be received by or before the due date of 27 February 2012.

Dr. Huseyin Gundogdu is a candidate person for the position of one of the Vice Presidents of ICID.   TUCID  secretariat will  await kind support of all national committees of ICID during the election procedure to be held in Australia, Adelaide.
