Franco Jordanian Forum on Water Sustainability / Forum Franco-Jordanien sur l'eau
Jordan being classified as one of the top water scarce countries in the world, the country is mobilized more than ever to ensure water security and sustainability.
Severe water scarcity, an ageing infrastructure and the recent immigration influx are aggravating factors pushing Jordan to actively implement national plans focused on facing the pressing water challenges.
Over the years, The French government has been actively supporting the kingdom in the water sector through various financing schemes amounting to more than 135 million Euros over the last years. Moreover, French companies, known for their worldwide expertise in the water sector, are also active in the kingdom, the recent signature of a memorandum of understanding covering five water and sanitation projects in Amman and Irbid at a cost of around 83 million euros is by far the latest acknowledgment.
