Introduction:
This course is one of the back-to-back activities that will be held during the 3rd Arab Water Week 2015. Interested participants are required to register separately to attend this course.
Promoting water integrity and fighting corruption in the water sector has the potential to create dramatic and lasting improvement for human dignity, health and equitable access to water. Additionally, it helps create a fertile ground for economic growth and investments in water.
Starting in 2014, Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI) is implementing a regional Water Integrity Capacity Building Programme in collaboration with regional and local partners in MENA. This training, held in connection with the 3rd Arab Water Week, marks the start of these courses, specifically tailored for the Middle East and North Africa region.
Course Targets:
The overall objective of the Water Integrity Training is to develop water integrity capacities of various water stakeholders in the MENA region, thereby improving transparency and accountability practices in water resources management.
Participants:
This course is open to all participants at the 3rd Arab Water Week who wish to deepen their knowledge of water integrity promotion in the MENA region, as well as AWARENET members who cannot attend the 3rd Arab Water Week but have the interest of taking this course.
Trainers:
The trainings will be delivered by regional and international facilitators drawn from the networks of the partner organizations combining local and contextual knowledge with international best practises in the area of water integrity: Ms. Alice Jaraiseh and Ms. Maria Jacobson manage SIWI’s Water Integrity Capacity Building Programme in the MENA region and will conduct the training, in cooperation with Water Integrity Trainers Eng. Mufleh Abbadi, IUCN-ROWA, and Dr Jarrah Al-Zubi, ACWUA
Course fees:
This training is free of charge. However, participants must cover all travel, accommodation and subsistence costs.
Course registration:
This training allows for 25 participants, who will be admitted on a first-come-first-serve basis.
