Conference on the Review of the Mediterranean Strategy for Sustainable Development

The aim of this conference is to discuss the draft reviewed Strategy document “MSSD 2.0” with stakeholders before it is submitted for the endorsement of the 16th Meeting of the Mediterranean Commission on Sustainable Development, which will take place in Morocco at mid-June 2015, and approval by the Conference of the Parties to the Barcelona Convention in December 2015.

In their 18th Ordinary Meeting held in Istanbul, Turkey (December, 2013), the Contracting Parties to the Barcelona Convention requested UNEP/MAP Secretariat to launch the process of the review of the Mediterranean Strategy for Sustainable Development (MSSD) with a view to submitting a revised MSSD for consideration and adoption by the Contracting Parties in their 19th Meeting (COP19) that will be held in December 2015 in Greece.

The Maltese Government will kindly host the Conference on the Review of the Mediterranean Strategy for Sustainable Development on February 17 and 18, 2015, at the Grand Hotel Excelsior, Floriana. The attached concept note provides more information about the Conference.
