Event EU-funded Clima-Med project organises capacity-building workshop

In close coordination with UN Habitat and the EU-funded Clima-Med project, a training workshop will take place in Beirut, Lebanon from 18 to 20 February, 2019.

The objective of the workshop “Building capacities for climate action at the city level in the Arab region” is to discuss the multidimensional approach for a coherent and coordinated response against climate change, and how the required establishment of appropriate coordination mechanisms at the regional, national and local levels can be addressed.

During the workshop, panellists and experts from several countries will share their experiences and explain the mechanisms for planning sustainable development within the local authorities as well as at the national and regional level.

Case studies from Arab cities on climate change adaptation measures and building resilience will be also presented.

Similarly, the capacity building event will discuss relevant topics and provide for practical understanding on Best practices and lessons learnt from local mitigation and adaptation actions in EU and MENA regions.

The EU-funded project “Clima-Med - Acting for Climate in South Mediterranean” aims at supporting the transition of partner countries towards sustainable, low-carbon and climate-resilient development. The overall objective of the initiative is to enhance energy security and adaptive capacity of partner countries and subsequently contribute to more stable, efficient, competitive and climate-resilient socioeconomic contexts, while increasing energy sovereignty and reducing CO2 emissions.
