Event Innovative Monitoring, Optimization & Fouling Management of Membrane Desalination Plants

Description

A 2-day intensive membrane desalination technology training course organized by Dar Al Taqniya, Bushnak Group, in conjunction with the upcoming 2008 Saudi Water & Power Forum. The course is designed for membrane-based water desalination plant operators, engineers, managers, owners and end-users of seawater and brackish plants utilizing RO and other integrated membrane processes. The course’s format will combine formal presentations and group interactive discussions, problem-solving and experience-sharing, highlighted in an trainee open-forum period at the end of each day to encourage proactive participation via questions, input and feedback.

Topic(s)/Agenda(s)

The 2-day intensive course will discuss technical and practical issues related to the design, operation, maintenance and innovative fouling management of seawater and brackish water desalination plants utliizing membrane technology applications. It will help plant engineers and operators in the Middle East and GCC Region better understand how the technology works, and provide an indepth training on how to optimize the plants performance and cost-effectivienss from one of the industry’s most experienced, hands-on experts. It will primarily focus on seawater desalination utilizing reverse osmosis and other integrated membrane technologies such as nanofiltration, ultrafiltration and microfiltration. Main topics of discussion include:

  • Feed Water Sources, Quality
  • Chemistry  Pretreatment Requirements - Chemical Treatments
  • Filtration Systems  Membrane Technology
  • Process Overview & Integration - RO/NF/UF/MF  System Design
  • Operation Optimization - Criteria & Configurations  Operation
  • Performance Monitoring & Evaluation - ASTM Standard Trending vs. Silent Alarm Real-time Monitoring & Fouling Measurement and Early Detection  Membrane Fouling
  • Scaling Control & Prevention Strategies  Membrane Vs. Thermal Desalination - Energy Use
  • Cost Comparisons  Top 30 Practical Plant Design, Operation
  • Maintenance Guidelines
  •
