Invitation to contribute to Message to World Leaders at UN High Level Summit on Climate Change
The UN Secretary-General is
holding a High Level Summit on Climate Change in New York on 22 September.
Attendance will be at the Head of Government level.
The opening of the
Summit is due to include a 3-5 minute speech by Nobel prize laureate, Prof
Wangari Maathai, who would like to incorporate in her speach the vision,
aspirations and asks of civil society and major groups from across the globe,
and specially from countries that are most at risk from climate
change.
Prof Maathai has
requested the UN Campaign on Climate Change "Seal the Deal!" to write to UN
accredited major group organizations requesting their input to incorporate in
her speaking notes.
As a leading
organization in your field, you are invited to contribute suggested speaking
points to Prof. Maathai, which you believe would convey your organization's
climate change messages to world leaders.
We cannot guarantee that the
points you provide will ultimately be included, but we can assure you that your
input will be provided directly to Prof Maathai for consideration.
If this is of interest,
we request that you provide no more than one page of suggested points by
Thursday, 10 September.
