News GMES at the Toulouse Space Show 2010

As you certainly know, the second edition of the "International Week on Space Applications" (Toulouse Space Show 2010) will be held in Toulouse, France, from 8 to 11 June 2010. This international week will include an international conference on space applications (SpaceAppli) as well as an exhibition combined with business meetings.
Several presentations of the GMES initiative will be given at the Space Appli conference by representatives of the European Commission and of the EU-funded GMES projects that are developing the first GMES services.
GMES will also actively participate in the exhibition where attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about the European Earth Observation programme by visiting the GMES Stand and meeting GMES projects' representatives.
The GMES Stand will be located on Booth D8, in Room Concorde, Level -1.
A detailed programme of the Toulouse Space Show is available at www.toulousespaceshow.eu More information on the European Earth Observation programme is available on the GMES institutional portal http://ec.europa.eu/gmes and on www.gmes.info

GMES in brief
The European Earth observation program GMES (Global Monitoring for Environment and Security) is a complex set of systems which collects data from multiple sources, such as earth observation satellites and in situ sensors (e.g. ground stations, airborne and sea-borne sensors), processes these data and provides users with reliable and up-to-date information through thematic services.
GMES is an EU-led initiative. The European Commission ensures the coordination and management of the GMES programme. The setting up of initial versions of the GMES services have been assigned to several projects partly financed through the 7th Research and Development Framework Programme of the European Union, while the developments related to the observation infrastructure are performed under the aegis of the European Space Agency for the space component and of the European Environment Agency and the Member States for the in situ component.
