The Socio-Economics of Desertification, Land Degradation and Drought DLDD

The United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification UNCCD and the Global Risk Forum GRF Davos invited to a Special Side Event on occasion of the World Economic Forum WEF 2011 in Davos, Switzerland. Experts from the field, politicians and interested persons, inter alia Luc Gnacadja, Executive Secretary UNCCD, and Margareta Wahlström, UN Special Representative for Disaster Risk Reduction, gathered at the Davos City Hall to raise awareness for the severely underestimated topic.
After key note speeches from Luc Gnacadja, Stefan Schmitz, Head of Division Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), Carola Donner-Reichle, Senior Advisor of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), and Michael Manfredo, Department Head of Natural Resource Recreation at the Colorado State University, the topic was addressed in a panel discussion.
