News Call for Visiting Professor for Sustainable Water Management for a period of six or twelve months

The Excellence Center – Sustainable Water Management in Developing Countries, implemented by the Technische Universität Braunschweig together with 32 Partner Universities in Latin America, South East Asia, Middle East and Sub-Sahara Africa is one of five excellence centers of the program “ex-ceed – Higher Ecudation Excellence in Development Cooperation” which is supported by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) with funds of the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) of Germany.

Within the Exceed network, Technische Universität (TU) Braunschweig together with its partners in developing countries concentrate their efforts on the Millennium Development Goal (MDG) No 7 “ensuring environmental sustainability”, of which water and water related topics represent the central core. The project aims at conveying competencies and knowledge regarding the subject matter of sustainable water management to future experts and decision makers, in order to qualify them to shape economic, organizational and political change processes.

The Excellence Center is looking forward to new applications for the Guest Professorship within the Exceed Project. The position is addressed to candidates from developing countries according to DAC list:

The international and multidisciplinary Exceed project is engaged in five major research topics:

  • Water and Agriculture in arid and semi-arid Regions”,

  • “Water and Health” and
  • “Water in a Global World”

The Excellence Center at TU Braunschweig seeks applications from internationally well-known senior experts as well as internationally young experts, each with outstanding competence in at least one of the research topics named above.

The Guest Chair Programme consists of a combined research and lecture period for one or two semester (6 or 12 months). The position is based in Braunschweig (Germany) and paid according to the salary group W3 like a full professor in the State Niedersachsen (equivalent to a gross salary amount of about 5092 Euro per month). In addition travel costs will be covered by the EXCEED Project.

The Guest Chair Holder at the TU Braunschweig will be supported during his research by up to five selected scholars (MSc and PhD students), forming the international Exceed Guest Chair Team. Each research and lecture period will last for six months.

The academic year in Germany consists of two semesters: April till September for the summer term and October till March for the winter term. Applications for one or two consecutive semesters are possible.

  • cover (motivation) letter,
  • CV showing the scientific expertise,
  • proposed research area of the guest professorship (related to the five main research topics of Exceed),
  • research proposal (five pages maximum) for the international guest team to be chaired,
  • relevant certificates and references,
  • proposed lectures to be given at TU Braunschweig,
  • your preferred starting date in Braunschweig

Next expected start date:  Summer Term 2013: April 1, 2013.
