UNEP GEAS: Africa without Ice and Snow
This month's bulletin of UNEP's Global Environmental Alert Service (GEAS) provides an overview of the current state of African glaciers and trends in their decline according to the latest scientific observations and satellite images. It also discusses the implications as these iconic glaciers continue to recede.The East African glaciers that once covered several hundred kilometres during the Pleistoscene era are now vulnerable to the impacts of a changing climate.
