Turkey: Starts work on its National Water Information System (NWIS)
Turkey initiated broad concertation to define its National Water Information System (NWIS). During a workshop organised by the Ministry of Forestry and Water Affairs on 23 September in Ankara, EMWIS Technical Unit provided some initial training building Shared Water Information Systems to various Turkish institutions.
The development and operation of such NWIS is supported by an article in the new draft water legislation and a definition study as started in early September for an implementation planned between 2014 and 2016.
