News Coordinator (m/f/d) UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration

WWF Coordinator (m/f/d) UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration :

Your responsibilities:

  • lead the WWF relationship to the UN Decade agencies and other global partners and open Channels for the WWF Network to contribute to the Decade and coordinate with selected stakeholders across the WWF Global Practices and the Global Policy and New Deal Teams
  • develop a WWF engagement strategy with the UN Decade to ensure positive impact on nature, biodiversity, people and communities and climate
  • support WWF Practices, country offices and policy teams to elevate the profile of "neglected" ecosystems, such as grasslands and rivers, as potential co-priorities for restoration and climate adaptation at cross-governmental level
  • identify emerging opportunities for WWF linked to policies, initiatives and outreach
  • support WWF country offices to prepare arguments and pathways to lobby for substantially increased global financing for ecosystem restoration
  • explore a WWF ecosystem restoration strategy across WWF Practices including links to Nature-based solutions
  • support the WWF Network to transfer knowledge (lessons learned) on ecosystem restoration to the UN Decade and shape WWF messaging content to the Decade together with WWF policy and communications colleagues
  • track progress against the strategy and coordinate regular updates to the WWF Network

Your requirements:

  • Master’s or equivalent degree in Environmental/Conservation Science, or other related fields with a professional understanding of international political processes
  • at least five years’ relevant professional experience in conservation, environment or development work, ideally with some knowledge/understanding of ecosystem restoration and/or integrated land and seascape scale work
  • proven experience in convening and coordinating virtual communities of practice in an international environment (particularly an NGO) would be a strong advantage
  • strong communication, interpersonal, coordination and negotiation skills
  • ability to engage and connect with a broad range of people, and work as part of a multi-dimensional team that cuts across the WWF Network
  • willingness to travel internationally for meetings and events when needed
  • excellent English, both written and oral, German or other languages are an asset
  • adhere to WWF's values: courage, collaboration, respect and integrity
