Water uses restrictions in France in November 2017

23 French provinces are under water restriction decided by drought orders at regional levels for local areas with 4 different levels:

• grey: Vigilance: Information and advices for habitants and professionals to save water

• yellow: Alert: Reduction of water abstration for agricultural purposes less than 50% (or ban up to 3 days per week), prohibition at certain times for irrigating gardens, spaces green, golf, washing cars, ...

• orange: Reinforced alert: Reduction  of water abstration for agricultural purposes greater than or equal to 50%, greater limitation of water uses for irrigating gardens, green spaces, golf courses, washing of cars, ..., until the prohibition of some abstraction

• red:Crisis: full stop of non-priority water abstraction including abstraction for agricultural purposes. Only abstractions for priority uses are authorized (health, civil security, drinking water, sanitation)
