EIB grants €450M to ACEA for water infrastructure improvements in Italy
The European Investment Bank (EIB) has approved a €450 million financing package for ACEA to support the modernisation of water infrastructure across the Lazio region. ACEA, one of Italy’s leading water operators, will use the financing to upgrade water supply and wastewater systems, reduce water losses, digitalise networks, improve infrastructure interconnections and develop water reuse solutions as part of its 2027–2030 investment programme.
The agreement builds on more than two decades of cooperation between the EIB and ACEA. Since their first financing operation in 1999, the two institutions have signed 17 agreements worth around €2.6 billion, supporting the development and modernisation of essential water and infrastructure services in Italy.
