The WE GO COOP project will hold its Final Conference together with the 1st Mediterranean Forum on Wetland Contracts on 5–6 November 2025 at La Coque, Marseille (France). The event is open to the public and will run in a hybrid format (in person with limited seating and online via Zoom; registration required).
The Forum focuses on sustainable management and governance of wetlands in the Mediterranean, with a central emphasis on the Wetland Contract—a voluntary tool for collaborative governance and coordinated action. The event will also mark the formal launch of the Community of Practice on Wetland Contracts in the Mediterranean.
Programme highlights (draft)
- Opening session (Day 1) covering an overview of WE GO COOP, the health of Mediterranean wetlands, the state of play on Wetland Contracts, the virtual platform of Mediterranean Wetland Contracts, and governance aspects related to the Nature Restoration Regulation.
- Launch of the Mediterranean Community of Practice with a roundtable and signature of a Memorandum of Understanding.
- Sessions on transferability and outreach, including introductions to symposia and EU/MENA region roadshows.
- Day 2 addresses open governance challenges, the Wetland Manager Network, and inspiring initiatives including EU-funded projects on Wetland Contracts, followed by wrap-up and closure.
