Call for projects - Initiative on the DIMFE platform

15 October 2025

The Donors' Initiative for Mediterranean Freshwater Ecosystems (DIMFE) has launched its 2025 Call for Projects to support concrete actions for the conservation and restoration of freshwater ecosystems across the Mediterranean region. Funded by the Aage V. Jensen Charity Foundation, Hans Wilsdorf Foundation, Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation and the Sigrid Rausing Trust, DIMFE promotes holistic approaches integrating ecological, social and cultural dimensions.

Eligible projects must focus on one or more of the following themes: conservation and restoration of freshwater biodiversity, sustainable water resource management, or innovative financing mechanisms for ecosystem protection. Nature-based solutions, traditional water practices, or the removal of obsolete barriers are among the eligible approaches.

Grants range from €100,000 to €500,000, with DIMFE funding up to 75% of the total budget. Projects must take place in the Mediterranean basin, deliver measurable on-the-ground impacts, and begin between March and June 2026. NGOs, local authorities, small eco-conscious enterprises (<20 employees), and scientific institutions are invited to apply.

Applications must be submitted by October 15, 2025, including a completed form and two detailed budget tables.
