On July 7, 2025, the European Commission presented a roadmap for the development of nature credits. This initiative aims to stimulate private investment in biodiversity and to reinforce actions in favor of a nature-friendly economy.
Nature credits are envisaged as a voluntary tool for financing concrete activities to restore or preserve ecosystems. The aim is to support the efforts of players in the field - farmers, managers of natural areas, local authorities - while mobilizing private funding to complement the public investments already underway.
This roadmap marks an important step in the construction of a common European framework, based on transparency, integrity and cooperation between stakeholders.
